A Note From Pat (February 1, 2019)
PermaPress closed in May of 2017. I am currently living and working in the Mojave Desert near the town of Joshua Tree, California. We are constructing a beautiful and spacious new studio here which will open in the Fall of 2019. In the meantime, I have been mixing and mastering out of our Solar Powered Cabin. I have also recorded albums by renting houses and setting up a mobile recording rig to do the tracking. Contact me at: [email protected] (503) 962-0321 PO Box 3333 Landers, CA 92285 Pat Kearns Recording In 1997, Pat Kearns opened a small, 16-track recording studio in Portland named Studio 13, recorded tons of punk/garage bands as well as singer/songwriters. In the fall of 2006, he expanded operations by opening The Color Lab in Portland, OR. After 6 months, the Lab had run its course and Pat moved operations to NE Portland and named the new studio PermaPress Recording. A short list of Pat’s credits include releases by: Lovvers, The Exploding Hearts, Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons, Pat mAcDonald (Timbuck 3), The Soda Pop Kids, The Nice Boys, The Clorox Girls, The Observers, Defiance, The Revisions, The Red Dons, The Goddamn Gentlemen, The Spider Babies, The Jolenes, Autistic Youth, The Neat, Absolute Rulers, and his own band; Blue Skies For Black Hearts. Our goal is to provide professional recording for both official releases as well as demos. Freelance engineers are welcome. Owner producer/engineer Pat Kearns is often requested to provide musical arrangements, novel percussion, harmony arrangements, and even his own voice to projects that he is producing. His recording heroes are Sir George Martin, Phil Spector, Nick Lowe, Jeff Barry, Joey Levine, and Geoff Emerick. Mr. Kearns has also toured as a live-sound engineer for John Vanderslice, Spoon, and Death Cab for Cutie. Article about PermaPress Recording in The Hollywood Star, June 2010 |
Mark Brachmann, Engineer

Mark shares the PermaPress Recording goal of providing professional recording services at reasonable rates and is willing to travel to remote sites for more personalized recording sessions. His biggest recording influences are John Fryer, Rick Rubin, Andy Wallace, Matt Wallace, Sylvia Massy, and Chris Lord-Alge.
