Dave Anderson was a friend of mine. I first got to know him while producing the Dave and Dwight show on KXL in 2000. That was probably the best job I ever had. At least the best job I've had working for a corporation. Everyday working on the show, Dave and Dwight Slade would make me laugh so hard I was brought to tears. Not too long after the show ended, I recorded a week's worth of Dave's live comedy shows at Harvey's Comedy Club. I edited and mixed together what would become Dave's CD, Who Will Find Me, Who Will Care. Dave opened doors for me and I got the chance to work with other comedians, like Don Friesen. Years went by and then one afternoon about 3 years ago, I ran into Dave in Centaur Guitar's parking lot. I think he was looking at guitars for his son. We reconnected. He made me laugh just like he always did. Just about one year ago, Dave contacted me to record another string of live shows at Harvey's. My good friend, Mark Brachmann helped me out this time during the recording. Dave and I worked on and off over the last year and we had just completed the record this past December. It was to be called Unprepared. My work schedule has been brutal since the year began. I didn't get any news from Dave about the CD release, which was supposed to happen in January. Today is my first day off of work in three and a half weeks....I was planning to call Dave and catch up. I am sad. This world is going to miss this man. He brought the laughter every single day. I miss him so much already. |
