Back in August of 2014, after playing two sets late on Sunday at Pickathon, courtney barnett and her band came into PermaPress Recording the following Monday morning and in just a few hours, before they headed in the van to San Francisco, we recorded covers of the Breeders' Cannonball and Smudge's Divan. I mixed the songs the following day and we corresponded until they were right. We liked the mixes but something seemed to be missing from Divan.....I actually forgot about this part until just a couple of days ago when I found the song online and had a listen. We thought on it. I told Courtney I had an idea. I grabbed my Rickenbacker 620, borrowed an EP Boost pedal from Knuckles at Centaur Guitar, and threw a little jangle guitar on the tune. Here's a link to the tune.
